After-Care

Lips Post-Care Instructions

Follow these post-care notes after lip filler or Lip Plump appointments. Your provider may give you personalized instructions based on your treatment plan.

Change Your Lips, Change Your Life.

Before you can enjoy your new lips, there is a small adjustment period. These instructions will help guide you through swelling, bruising, hydration, massage, and when to contact the team.

Bruising is the New Black.

Bruising is completely normal and can last a couple of weeks. Feel free to cover it up with makeup or lipstick. If you want some extra help, Arnica pills can help support your recovery.

Lube it Up.

Your lips will feel tight and dry after injections and will most likely be chapped. The filler stretches the membranes and dries out your tissues. Stay hydrated and keep them lubricated. Beauty Lab + Laser recommends LaNeige lip mask for ultimate hydration.

Don't Freak Out. You're Going to be Swollen.

Expect swelling to be most significant for the first 24-48 hours. During this time, ice your lips for 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off, take Ibuprofen only after injections, take Arnica pills if recommended, and enjoy the swelling. Final settling takes time.

When in Doubt...Rub it Out.

Feeling lumpy and bumpy can happen. Massage your lips after the third day. Gently rubbing your lips can help smooth the product faster, but it should smooth out on its own in 2-3 weeks. If visible lumps are bothering you after 3 weeks, let us know and we will get you in for a free follow up.

Cold Sores Happen.

If you have a tendency to get cold sores, tell us. Lip injections can activate the virus that causes cold sores, so it is best to be preventative and take medicine like Valtrex in advance to stop an outbreak. If you need a prescription, our injectors can provide one.

The Lab Loves You

If you experience unusual pain, swelling, skin color changes such as pale, blue, or mottled skin, or worsening symptoms, this could indicate a vascular occlusion, which is a rare but time-sensitive complication that requires immediate attention.

  • Call us right away: 801-281-3223
  • If you cannot reach us, or your symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening, go to the nearest Emergency Room immediately. Do not wait. Tell ER staff what was injected and when, so they can treat you appropriately.

Your safety comes first. Always err on the side of getting checked out.
