Summer is the season to pause aggressive lasers if you are getting sun, then prioritize maintenance, hydration, prevention, SPF, and glow-friendly treatments.

Summer Skin PSA: What to Pause and What to Prioritize

Summer Skin PSA

The sun is out, the pool days are calling, and your social calendar is suddenly booked every weekend until September. We love summer around here, but we also need to have a little talk about lasers.

Every year around this time, we have clients who are surprised when we tell them it is time to pause certain treatments. Here is your official Beauty Lab summer reminder.

Summer Is Not the Time to Push Aggressive Laser Treatments

If you are spending time outside, tanning, traveling, boating, golfing, hiking, laying by the pool, or even just existing in Utah summer sunlight, your skin is more vulnerable to heat and pigment complications.

That means this is usually the season to pause:

  • Laser Hair Removal
  • IPL / Photofacials
  • Fraxel resurfacing
  • Aggressive chemical peels

These treatments target pigment and heat in the skin. Fresh sun exposure increases the risk of:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Burns
  • Blistering
  • Uneven results
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Prolonged healing

At Beauty Lab + Laser, we would much rather help you maintain healthy, glowing skin through the summer and then hit the reset button with lasers again in the fall.

But I Started Laser Hair Removal Already

Do not panic. This does not mean your progress is ruined.

Most clients can simply pause treatments during peak summer months and resume once:

  • Their tan has faded
  • Sun exposure decreases
  • Skin is back to baseline

This is especially important with Alexandrite lasers, which are less safe on freshly tanned skin. Our providers always assess skin tone and recent sun exposure before treating because safety comes first.

So What Can You Do During Summer?

A lot, actually. Summer is the perfect season for maintenance treatments, hydration, prevention, and keeping your skin healthy without over-stressing it.

Hydrafacials

Hydrafacials are basically the MVP of summer skincare. They:

  • Deep clean pores
  • Gently exfoliate
  • Hydrate the skin
  • Help with congestion and makeup buildup
  • Leave you glowy without downtime

Perfect before vacations, weddings, events, or just because your skin feels heavy after sunscreen and sweat season.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning removes dead skin buildup, peach fuzz, and surface debris. Makeup goes on smoother and skincare penetrates better. It is a great maintenance-mode treatment while stronger lasers are on pause.

LED Light Therapy

LED is calming, healing, anti-inflammatory, and helpful after travel, sun exposure, breakouts, or irritated summer skin. It pairs beautifully with facials and Hydrafacials.

Tox Appointments

Summer is peak tox season. Keeping up with Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, or Daxxify helps maintain smooth, refreshed results without worrying about sun sensitivity.

Medical Grade Skincare

Your summer skincare priorities should be:

  • SPF every single day
  • Antioxidants
  • Hydration
  • Barrier repair
  • Pigment prevention

If you are not sure what products make sense for your skin, this is a great time to come in for a consultation and build a realistic routine.

Summer Skin Rule: Protect Your Investment

You cannot spend thousands on lasers and then roast yourself every weekend with no SPF.

Wear the sunscreen. Reapply the sunscreen. Then reapply it again.

Fall Laser Season Will Be Here Before You Know It

Once the tans fade and sun exposure decreases, we can safely jump back into:

  • Laser Hair Removal
  • IPL
  • Fraxel
  • Pigment correction
  • Resurfacing treatments

Until then, focus on maintenance, hydration, prevention, and protecting your skin barrier.
