Fat Dissolving Injections Post-Care Instructions
These notes address Kybella under the chin. Ask for specific instructions if another product or area was treated.
Manage discomfort
- Swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness and firmness can occur. Swelling may peak over 24–48 hours; some effects last longer.
- If recommended, use a cloth-wrapped cool pack for 5 minutes, then rest 5 minutes. Avoid direct ice and pressure. Ask about pain relief; do not stop prescribed medicines yourself.
Protect and observe
- Keep injection points clean. Do not rub, squeeze or try to break down lumps.
- Ask about makeup, exercise or compression garments. Worsening pain, skin breakdown or increasing redness needs assessment.
Plan your review
- Changes develop over weeks. Attend your recommended review, often around 4–6 weeks; further treatment depends on recovery and assessment.
- Report persistent or growing lumps; some need medical treatment. The amount of swelling does not measure your result.
When to get help
- Call 911 for breathing difficulty, inability to swallow saliva, rapidly expanding throat swelling or a severe allergic reaction.
- Call 801-281-3223 immediately for a new uneven smile, facial weakness, swallowing difficulty, severe pain or concerning skin color change.
- Contact us promptly for fever, spreading redness, open sores or drainage. If symptoms are severe or help is unavailable promptly, seek urgent medical care.
